We have come a long way in the field of technology. 50 years ago, computers with very limited capabilities and heavy power consumption used to be housed in big rooms, but now more than a thousand times powerful devices are accessible in the palms of our hands. The technology has advanced in a way that we can have small wearable devices to perform amazing tasks unimaginable about a century ago.
Most wearable technology developed till now are mostly used in the fitness and well-being space, but their implementation can be create potentially life enhancing and life changing applications.
Hence this is the best time to build technological solutions that explores innovative uses of technology that can be worn. As wearable technology is the next big thing in the field of technology, we are organizing Wearable Appathon.
Microsoft Innovation Center Nepal and UNICEF Nepal is partnering to identify technological solutions that explores innovative uses of technology that can be worn. The initial step we are taking is to organize Wearable Appathon where developers, designers, project managers and programmers come together for a given time usually 24 hours to 72 hours to build innovative web or mobile applications to develop ideas and then convert it into a working prototype, which later will be implemented as a working solution. This will be also an opportunity to pick the brains of young innovative minds to make technologies that are so simple to use yet doing lifesaving or life changing tasks Theme 1.Health 2.Education 3.HIV / AIDS 4.Water 5.Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) 6.Child Protection 7.Social Inclusion Award
